Copper Nickel flanges, typically of 90% copper-10% nickel (90/10) or 70% copper-30% nickel (70/30) composition, have excellent corrosion resistance particularly in seawater service. The alloys can also have trace amounts of manganese and iron for added strength and durability. Mechanical properties consist of tensile strength of 275–500 MPa and yield strength of approximately 69–150 MPa, with elongation of 20–50%. Copper Nickel flanges have excellent ductility and toughness at sub-zero temperatures and are thus suitable for harsh marine, chemical, and industrial environments.
